AstroSeeker - 17 Types of Astronomical Searches!
Choose from a wide variety of searches to investigate astronomical events, quickly and easily. You can find when the Sun, Moon or any planet is within any part of the sky. The region of the sky can be defined by either right ascension & declination or by altitude and azimuth. You can also find when any 2 or 3 bodies are together in the sky, within a range of degrees of separation that you specify. In addition, you can get positions of bodies in relation to the ecliptic plane.
You can search for ranges of values for heliocentric longitude, latitude, or distance and for geocentric longitude, latitude or distance. All output is numerical data (no graphs are plotted). Searches can also be done for rise or set times, angular size, phases, elongation from the sun, brightness or longitude of the ascending node.
Besides searches, you can use the program to find the value of these parameters for any date. The Julian day number is provided for reference. You can easily set the staring date & time and ending date & time for a search, plus the time steps to be used, in terms of years, months, days, hours or minutes and the total number of time steps.
You can also specify the latitude/longitude and time zone of the observing location. The search can be set to pause when a condition is found or to use continuous calculations. Conditions used are saved from the previous case so it's easy to go from one case to another similar one.
You can see the progress of the search on screen and can pause, restart, or end the search when you want. The output screen has the current value of the parameter being searched, the previous value, the difference between the two, the current date and time, the number of time steps completed, the dates of events found and other information. Output can be sent to the screen, a printer or a text file ( a text editor is included). Altogether a very powerful astronomical tool!
